Storyline
Ryohei Arisu/Alice (Kento Yamazaki), a young unemployed guy, receives criticism from his father and sibling for forgoing job interviews in favour of playing video games. Infuriated, Arisu storms out of the house while texting his promiscuous friends Chota and Karube. While on a city stroll, the three buddies enjoy moments of enjoyment on the road, unconscious of their turbulent surroundings. They are surrounded by traffic as the scene comes to an end. Arisu, Chota and Karube create chaos on the signal and thus to avoid police, they hide inside a public toilet. However, as they emerge, everything is dead silent.
Travelling into a new fantasy world, Arisu, Chota, and Karube must compete in survival games to earn visas or live until the game is over and the next one is waiting. The algorithm of the game and the game master's cunning are no match for Arisu, an ardently dedicated player, yet in a survival game, there may only be one victor. Arisu is known to make some difficult decisions, which puts him in a position where he must give up his friends and loved ones.
The series begins with Arisu, Karube, and Chota, three friends who are bored with their lives and are looking for something exciting to do. One night, they decide to play a game of tag in an abandoned building. However, when they finish the game, they find themselves in a strange new world where Tokyo is completely empty. They soon realize that they are in a parallel universe where they must compete in a series of deadly games in order to survive.
The games are all based on classic children's games, such as tag, hide-and-seek, and Simon Says. However, the games are made deadly by the fact that the players must either win or die. If they lose, they are killed instantly.
Arisu and his friends must use all of their skills and resources to survive the games. They must work together, think quickly, and use their imaginations in order to find a way to win.
