Based on the DC Comics superhero Peacemaker, Peacemaker is an American superhero television series that James Gunn developed for the HBO Max streaming service. A spin-off of the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad, it is the sole DC Extended Universe (DCEU) television series. After the events of the movie, Christopher Smith/Peacemaker is further explored in the television series. Gunn serves as the showrunner, and it is produced by Warner Bros. Television, The Safran Company, and Troll Court Entertainment.

Honest Review of this series

I was shocked by how much I like Peacemaker. Since the moment I learned about it, I've been anticipating this. In fact, I binge-watched the first season in a single weekend. Now, John Cena is a true celebrity. He is even more excellent in this than he was in Suicide Squad. With Peacemaker, James Gunn has scored yet another grand slam. Gunn tends to make everything he touches better. I learned that he was appointed co-president of DC Studios. That's the most positive development for DC in a very long time. He'll do a terrific job, I'm sure. Action, drama, humour, twists, and everything else you might desire from a decent superhero programme are all present in Peacemaker.

Peacemaker Series Storyline/Plot

Peacemaker's amazing debut season concludes with a political statement and massive cameos. Eight episodes of a raucous, amusing, and action-packed debate on right-wing ideology were provided by director and writer James Gunn. In a really ingenious method, the Peacemaker's creed of maintaining peace at all costs is put to the test. We discover that the "butterfly" extraterrestrial invasion's objective is to save mankind from itself. John Cena was the star of a wonderful ensemble cast that expertly switched between comedic and dramatically intense sequences.

After The Suicide Squad's events, the plot of Peacemaker assumes that Christopher Smith (John Cena) is once again under Amanda Waller's (Viola Davis) authority. He joins a squad of ARGUS black ops agents under the command of Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji). Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), a badass, John Economos (Steve Agee), a tech nerd, Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), a sociopathic wannabe best friend of Peacemaker, and Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Waller's lesbian daughter who joined the squad as her dependable spy. Their covert project, Project Butterfly, aims to stop insect-like aliens that can infiltrate human hosts' minds and take control of them.

Murn is revealed to be a Butterfly in episode four, "The Choad Less Travelled," who is trying to prevent his species from taking over Earth. After killing Senator Goff, the Butterfly's previous host, Peacemaker surreptitiously preserved the butterfly in a jar. Only a thick green liquid can sustain the Butterflies. Goff is fed by Peacemaker, who also chats to the creature and blows marijuana smoke into the jar. His remorse about murdering Rick Flagg and his brother when he was a boy consumes him.

The violently bigoted August Smith (Robert Patrick), the father of Peacemaker, is seen in episode seven's "Stop Dragon My Heart Around" forcing his kids to fight at their caravan park. After The White Dragon and his supporters attacked the ARGUS crew that was still alive, Peacemaker killed his father, also known as The White Dragon. Murn has already died at this time. The detective who was pursuing Peacemaker, Sophie Song (Annie Chang), was taken over by the Goff Butterfly, who then sought for support from other butterflies. At the moment, the Butterflies are in charge of all the police in Evergreen. The team's leader is Harcourt. They understand that the only way to stop the Butterflies is to eliminate their sole food supply, an extraterrestrial "cow" concealed under a barn in a bunker.

The squad must kill the cow quickly before the Butterflies transfer it to another stronghold in the conclusion, "It's Cow or Never." Adebayo has angered Peacemaker by setting up evidence to frame him. Waller intended for him to be blamed for Project Butterfly. Adebayo disputes her mother and gives their desperate endeavour her entire support. They have a plan when they go to the barn. Use Peacemaker's sonic blast helmet to completely demolish the building. Adebayo contacts her mother for immediate assistance, but aid will not show up in time.

John Economos sneaks inside the barn while pretending to be a butterfly. When he sees the enormous, six-eyed alien cow, he panics, but he does take off the helmet. When a Butterfly tries to give it back to him, the scheme fails. forcing the crew to ignite the helmet before it is ready. Harcourt, Peacemaker, and Vigilante massacre hundreds of Butterflies in this bloodbath. Harcourt commands Peacemaker to track out the cow and kill it at any means. She has been shot several times. The vigilante also receives a shot. Economos breaks his leg in an effort to assist. Adebayo is now Peacemaker's sole ally.

Peacemaker trips and falls down into the bunker's depths. He is ultimately coated with rubble. In an unexpected turn, Goff—who is now inside Sophie Song's body—saves him. She begs Peacemaker to assist them in rescuing the cow. According to Goff, the Butterflies originated from a planet that was destroyed due to disregarding climate change and petty rivalries. They seek to prevent mankind from destroying itself. promoting the "peace at all costs" tenet.

Peacemaker has trouble deciding. Song is then shot in the chest. Wearing his human-torpedo helmet, Adebayo comes. Adebayo is launched headfirst into the alien cow's stomach when he activates the helmet, which resembles a caterpillar. She dismembers the animal. so removing the source of food for butterflies. Song lets the Goff Butterfly flutter away from her head. As they go, Peacemaker takes a wounded Harcourt. Please start the drums as the Justice League arrives. The faces of Superman and Wonder Woman are hidden. Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Ezra Miller's Flash are scolded by Peacemaker for "being f***ing late." He also makes a last jab about Aquaman allegedly having sex with fish.

At the Evergreen hospital, the season comes to a close. Harcourt and Vigilante make it through their injuries. But Harcourt's path to recovery will be a long one. At the Belle Reve jail, John Economos goes back to his lonesome workstation. Adebayo, Peacemaker's eagle sidekick, is referred to be his best buddy. She holds a news conference where she clears Peacemaker, discusses Project Butterfly, Task Force X, and her mother's participation. Peacemaker is seen in the closing shot thinking on the porch of his caravan. Next to him, the Goff Butterfly lands. He feeds it with the last of the green liquid in the jar. The father of Peacemaker sits at his side, now a vision that only he can see. As Eagly hands the three a dead possum, they all seem desolate.
