Honest Review of this series

It seems extremely realistic while being entertaining and taking surprising twists. It's unsettling, sinister, and undoubtedly tragic, yet I couldn't put it down because it was so engrossing. Additionally, the dog and pig allegory is really gutting (again, in a good way). I adored it; the retaliation is fulfilling while yet leaving you with a melancholy feeling. And in many aspects (getting back at bullies in school), I'd compare it to "The Glory" Additionally, it emphasises the seriousness of bullying. If you can manage a lot of melancholy and some gore, you really must see it.

Series-SYNOPSIS/PLOT:

The King of Pigs is a story about the dark and brutal reality of school bullying and its lasting consequences. The story follows two friends, Kyung-min and Jong-suk, who were victims of school violence 20 years ago. They reunite after receiving a mysterious message from a friend who they thought was dead. As they recall their traumatic past, they also become involved in a series of murders that are somehow connected to their former classmates.

The story is divided into two timelines: the present and the past. In the present, Kyung-min is a successful businessman who lives with his wife and daughter. However, he suffers from guilt and depression after killing his wife in a fit of rage. He contacts Jong-suk, who is now a detective working on a murder case. Jong-suk receives a message from Kim Chul, their friend from 20 years ago who was supposed to have committed suicide. The message leads them to a website where they see a video of one of their former bullies being killed by a masked man.

In the past, Kyung-min and Jong-suk were students at Shinseok High School, where they were constantly bullied by a group of students called the “dogs”. The dogs were led by Choi Seok-ki, the son of the school principal. Kyung-min and Jong-suk were called the “pigs” and were treated as inferior and worthless. They had no friends except for Kim Chul, who was also a victim of bullying. Kim Chul was different from the other pigs, as he had a rebellious and violent streak. He often fought back against the dogs and tried to protect Kyung-min and Jong-suk. He also claimed to be the “King of Pigs”, who would overthrow the dogs and bring justice to the school.

The story explores the psychological effects of bullying on both the victims and the perpetrators. It shows how bullying can destroy one’s self-esteem, dignity, and humanity.
