Movie-SYNOPSIS
John Constantine is approached by Det. Angela Dodson who needs his help to prove that her twin sister Isabel’s death was not a suicide. The dead woman was a devout Catholic and Angela refuses to accept she would have taken her own life. She’s asked Constantine for help because he has a reputation for dealing with the mystical. In fact, he is a demon hunter whose sole purpose on Earth is to send demons back to the nether regions. John himself has been to Hell and knows that he is destined to return there on his death – but hopes his good deeds may find him a place in Heaven. As he looks into Isabel’s death, he realizes demons are trying to break through to the human world, and his battles lead him into a direct conflict with Satan.

Constantine also has a reputation as being one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world. Despite this, he rarely uses magic, instead choosing to use his wits to trick his opponents. Constantine is also referred to as "The Constant One" because of his whole family tree being somewhat connected to the occult.

Constantine was a wild, silver-tongued punk in his early adulthood who had no idea what he was going to become. Constantine continued to display interest in everything occult despite having a talent for con artists; nevertheless, until he started dating a police officer called Margaret Ames, he did not take it beyond a hobby. They became close by embarking on impromptu magical adventures together, but Constantine eventually thought she deserved a normal existence and abruptly left her.
Later, together with their buddy Gaz Lester, Constantine and his first girlfriend Veronica Delacroix created the punk group "Mucous Membrane," which had a mystical concept. Up until a spell gone horribly wrong caused Delacroix to gradually lose her connection to the mortal world, the three had a rock star lifestyle and started taking their collective magic more seriously. Because Constantine was powerless to stop it, the band disintegrated, and Constantine was inspired to concentrate on his magician abilities as a result.
After a brief career as a rock star, he studied everything he could about the occult and magic in Europe before moving to New York City to study under Nick Necro, one of the best magicians in the world, who had previously trained under the legendary Giovanni Zatara and Baron Winters. The strong magician Zatanna, who was Zatara's daughter, was Nick's girlfriend at the time. John also fell in love with her the moment he first saw her.
When John eventually left America and returned to England, he fell in love with a young woman named Maureen. However, Maureen's relationship with John ultimately resulted in her suicide, something John would always hold him responsible for. Blythe, a demon, and John also had a brief relationship, although it never progressed beyond the odd fling. John eventually came to the hippy convoy that a little psychic girl named Mercury and her mother Marj were travelling in. Before John broke up the convoy and left, he and Marj briefly fell in love.
Constantine once came into contact with the might of the Other Place, a Black Multiverse dimension where all dark magic originates, when a fragment of the evil broke free and almost burned Heaven to the ground. John's magic killed three lives as he only attempted to communicate with the darkness in an effort to comprehend it.
Constantine movie story line / Plot:
The spear's point that pierced Jesus Christ is found in Mexico by a scavenger who then transports it to Los Angeles after getting possessed. There, cynical occult specialist John Constantine casts a demon from a young girl after seeing its effort to travel via her to Earth, something that is forbidden by a covenant between Heaven and Hell and should be impossible. Constantine, who has terminal lung cancer, meets with the half-angel Gabriel to ask for a prolongation of life in exchange for helping to expel the armies of Hell. Gabriel replies that doing nice things for one's own gain won't get one into heaven.
Detective Angela Dodson is also looking into her twin sister Isabel's death after she jumped to her death from the roof of a mental facility. Angela finds it hard to accept that her religiously devoted sister would kill herself and go to Hell. Angela hunts out Constantine after overhearing Isabel utter "Constantine" on security tape. Until he sees demons following Angela and repels them, he refuses to assist. He confirms Isabel committed suicide by using a ritual to see her in Hell. Constantine claims to Angela that despite being resurrected, he will go to Hell when he dies because encountering supernatural entities scarred him as a youth and caused him to commit suicide.Father Hennesy, a friend of Constantine's, finds a symbol on Isabel's wrist in the mortuary but is assassinated by the half-demon Balthazar. Constantine and Angela locate the symbol Hennesy carved into his hand and left for them to find. Additionally, Angela discovers a clue in Isabel's hospital room that refers to a chapter of Hell's bible. The chapter foretells the antichrist Mammon, Lucifer's son, usurping his father and conquering the Earth with the help of a strong psychic and divine assistance; the psychic, Isabel, murdered herself to stop Mammon, according to Constantine's ally Beeman, who was killed by Balthazar. Angela confesses that she has abilities similar to Isabel's but suppressed them in order to prevent being labelled insane like her sister. Angela's powers are restored by Constantine by triggering a near-death experience, and she uses them to find Balthazar. When Constantine interrogates Balthazar, he discovers that Mammon has selected Angela as his new host and that the blood of Christ on the spear's point represents divine aid. Balthazar is destroyed by an unknown force, and Angela is taken hostage by Mammon. Constantine creates visions with the aid of the witch doctor Papa Midnite to find Angela at the mental hospital. Armed, Constantine storms the building with Chas Kramer, his driver and apprentice, slaying legions of demons to get Angela. Chas is killed by the invisible force, who is later revealed to be Gabriel, when Constantine and Chas appear to free Mammon from her. I actually "deserve" His love now. Constantine is thrown away by Gabriel as he gets ready to use the spear tip to pierce Angela and release Mammon. After failing to strike Lucifer, Gabriel declares that God has abandoned them. Lucifer then burns away Gabriel's wings and casts Mammon into Hell. Constantine declines Lucifer's offer to bring him back to life in exchange for his help and requests that Isabel be sent to Heaven instead. Isabel is freed by Lucifer, but Constantine starts to climb to Heaven in recompense for his heroic sacrifice. In a fit of rage, Lucifer kills Constantine's cancer and brings him back to life in the hope that he can eventually demonstrate that he belongs in Hell. Before departing, Constantine punches the now-mortal Gabriel and assigns Angela the task of securing the spear's tip.
